Chisapani Nagarkot HIke is one of the most popular trips within the Kathmandu Valley. This short and easy trek brings you inside the premises of Shivapuri National Park and eventually takes you to Changunarayan, an embodiment of the wonderful traditional architecture of Nepal. During the trek, you will be greeted with some gorgeous views of charming villages. Wonderful panoramas of peaks ranging from Kanchenjunga to Everest are bound to delight every trekker.

Chisapani Nagarkot Hike starts from Sundarijal. This town is a major water supply for the Kathmandu Valley. From here, you will walk uphill for a bit to the entrance of Shivapuri National Park. The trek then leads through some of the beautiful forests of this national park to the picturesque settlement of Chisapani. The lodges in this area offer good facilities for food and accommodation. Your next stop from Chisapani is Nagarkot, famous for its outstanding views of mountains, especially amazing during sunrise and sunsets. 

Due to the relatively low altitude of the Chisapani Nagarkot Hike, it can be completed even in the winter. Due to its short and easy trekking route, it is also a perfect trek to embark on with your family. There is perhaps no other destination in Nepal that offers you breathtaking sites of so many mountain ranges within a short span of trekking time.
 

Food and Accommodation 

While you are Kathmandu, you will stay at a 3-star hotel providing breakfast. For lunch and dinner, you can try different amazing restaurants there. Leaving Kathmandu, you will stay at a guest house providing clean and accommodation. You will be provided with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 
 

Trek Route

Chisapani Nagarkot Hike starts from Sundarijal where you reach via bus from Kathmandu. From Sundarijal, you will trek to Chisapani and spend a night there. The next day, you will trek to Nagarkot. On the last day of the trek, you will trek to Changunarayan and get back to Kathmandu.
 

Difficulty

This is an easy trek around Kathmandu valley which can be completed within 3 days. You walk on a decent trail for 5/6 hours a day. The trek is easy as the altitude of the region is not high and trails easy to walk. The trek does not demand much physical fitness and hence anyone can do this trek.
 

Food and Accommodation

As the Chisapani Nagarkot Trek is a leisurely one - you won't have to go to remote areas. Many restaurants are available along the way, where varieties of western and traditional dishes are available. During the trek, you will stay in lodges. They are fairly luxurious and provide you with basic services. While in Kathmandu, you will stay in a 3-star hotel with breakfast service. For lunch and dinner, you can explore various dishes available in the city according to your preference. 
 

Weather and Best Time to Trek

This trek can be done at any time of the year. As the trail is easy to walk and you do not have to walk in the high altitude region, there will be no problem even in summer and winter days. The temperatures will be moderate throughout the year. Each season you with a different view of the landscapes around the trekking region.

Itineraries

First Day

Day 1:Arrive at Kathmandu Airport

• Accommodation: 3-Star Hotel
• Altitude: 1345 m
As you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will be there to pick you up. They will be waiting for you with the board with your name in it. When you meet them, they will drive you to the hotel you will be staying in. You can relax there for a while and set out to explore the city. You can stroll around the streets of Thamel exploring foods, restaurants and bars. You will stay overnight at the 3-star hotel.

Second Day

Day 2:Orientation and Sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley

• Accommodation: 3-Star Hotel
• Altitude: 1345 m
Today you will go out for sightseeing in Kathmandu where you will visit 5 of the UNESCO world heritage sites; Basantapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa, Boudhanath Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple. You will also visit other with cultural and religious sites. Our experienced tour guides will tell you all you need to know and answer all your curiosities regarding those sites. You can also check if you have everything you need for this trek and buy anything if missed. You will prepare for the trek and stay at the same hotel.

Third Day

Day 3:Drive to Sundarijal and trek to Chisapani

• Accommodation: Guesthouse
• Trek Hours: 3-4 hours
• Altitude: 2300 m
• Private Vehicle
You will be having one hour ride to Sundarijal from Kathmandu, from where the trek begins. You will ascend uphill along the Bagmati river. You walk through the dense forest of Shivapuri National Park. After walking for a while, you will depart from the stream and will hike through the Jungle. You will have a wonderful view of the river valley covered with the forest. You will climb the Shivapuri ridge for a while and reach Tamang village, Mulikharka. You can relax there for a while as there are a few small shops where you can buy food and drinks. Then you will ascend the steep trail covered with oak and pine forests to reach Chisapani. You can see the rice fields and small settlements as well. As most of the trail is among the forest, you will get the opportunity to see some birds and wild animals in their natural habitats. Walking this serene trail for about 4 hours to get to Chisapani. You will stay overnight at a tea house there.

Fourth Day

Day 4:Trek to Nagarkot

• Trek Hours: 5-6 hours
• Altitude: 2195 m
Leaving the beautiful Chisapani, you will move ahead to reach Nagarkot. Nagarkot is a destination for anyone wanting to get away from the busy city life but doesn’t have much time. Your path may include some well-paved roads as well as some rough trails. Nagarkot is also a famous bird-watching site. You will have your lunch at Jhule and continue your trek. You will finally climb a steep slope to reach Nagarkot. From there, you can have amazing views of mountains like Dhaulagiri, Everest, Kanchenjunga, Manaslu, etc. The view of the sunset over the Himalayas from Nagarkot is breathtaking.

Fifth Day

Day 5:Trek to Changu Narayan and drive to Kathmandu

• Accommodation: 3-Star Hotel
• Trek Hours: 4-5 hours
• Altitude: 1345 m
You get up early in the morning to catch the wonderful view of sunrise from the height of Nagarkot. With the sunrise, you will enjoy the spectacular panorama of the Himalayas reflecting the morning sunbeams. After enjoying this delightful view, you will descend down to Changunarayan. It takes about 4 hours to get there, so you will have plenty of time to admire the lush forests along the way. After reaching Changunarayan, you will explore the temple which was built in the medieval age. It is an important site from the historical and cultural aspects. After spending a few moments there, you will drive back to Kathmandu and check in to a 3-star hotel. You can spend the evening strolling around Thamel and exploring things around.

Seventh Day

Day 6:Departure

This is the last day of your trekking package and you will return to your country or head towards your next destination. We bid you farewell and wish you luck. If you want to trek to other regions of Nepal or go for other activities in Nepal, we at Royal Nepals will make your stay fun and worthy.

Yes, you can do this trek even if you haven't trekked before. It is considered to be one easiest treks in Nepal. If you have been involved in basic fitness exercises, you can do this trek.
