You’re 15 Days Annapurna Base Camp Trek begins from Nayapul. It is a thrilling drive of about 2 hrs from Pokhara, the trail leads you through to the fascinating traditional villages of Nepal’s ethnic communities of Gurungs and Magar. We make our way through the dense rhododendron forest with towering snowy peaks in the background. The breath-taking view of an early morning sunrise at Poon Hill is mesmerizing. The rays of the first sunrays seep through shimmering gaps over the snow-capped peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountains. We continue the trail leaving the quaint cultural happening surrounding we enter the alpine circuit. A noticeable change in the landscapes becomes prominent as we tread past the Machhapuchhre Base Camp to finally reach the Annapurna Base Camp trekking destination. It is nature’s lively amphitheater adorned with some of the highest peaks in the world. The sightings of the ever-present Annapurna I (8090 m), Annapurna South (7222 m), the fishtail Machapuchhre (6993 m), and Hiunchuli (6441 m) blows you away. How difficult is  the Annapurna Base Camp trekking journey?

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is not a difficult walk to look at it, but there are some challenges associated with this trek. Some common factors such as duration and distance of the trip, altitude sickness, preparedness, trekking season, can make the trekking journey hard at times. However with a little bit of physical endurance and good mental soundness it can be achieved. Be informed that this trekking circuit involves a lot of ups and down. As you go to the higher altitudes there is always a lack of oxygen during that can zap off your energy within minutes. But despite this it is one of the lower and easier treks. So at any given point of time if you are determined and have an average fitness level it is achievable.

Is Annapurna Base Camp/Annapurna Sanctuary safe for trekking?

Yes, Annapurna Base Camp/Annapurna Sanctuary absolutely safe for Trekking. Be reminded though that trekking is an adventure sport that comes with seen and unforeseen risks. There are few instances where avalanches have occurred in these areas but it’s rare and with anticipation and preparedness it can be avoided. Besides this, Royal Nepal Group trek team is always well equipped to tackle with any kind of accidents if it occurs. The team always carries an oxymeter, blood pressure monitor, stretcher, oxygen cylinder, walkie talkies and a high-altitude medical kit. We take great care in designing our treks and itineraries to ensure safety on the trek prevails at all times.

Which is the best season to visit the Annapurna Base Camp Trekking region?

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek can be attempted all-round the year. However if you want it to be quaint and less trafficked than do it in the summer or monsoon season with preparedness. In the summer/monsoon (June, July, and August), the temperature ranges between 19°C/66.2°F to 4°C/39.2°F which results in strong haze from the sun and heavy rainfall.

Ideally to get the best moods of nature and the weather we recommend you choose either autumn (fall) or spring to be at the Annapurna region. The average temperature ranges between 12-21 degrees Celsius. The trekking trails are also neither too wet nor too slippery. The days are generally long and warm while the nights are comparatively cooler. As the days are brighter it provides a great opportunity to witness the green cultivable fields, and the flora and fauna on the trails.

The winter months of December to February, is the time when drastic changes occur in Annapurna Base Camp trekking region. The temperature ranges between 9.3°C/48.74°F to -20°C/-4°F. The weather is extremely cold and unbearable and posing all sorts of difficulty for trekking. This is the time which is not preferred by most trekkers.
