Trip Introduction: 8 Days Gosainkund Trekking-‘short and scenic adventure to holy Gosainkund within Langtang Himal'

 
Gosainkund Trekking takes you to high areas of Nepal Central Himalaya, located straight north of Kathmandu valley within Langtang Himal range of Rasuwa district, regarded as holiest of holy spot in all Himalaya regions.
 
Gosainkund Trekking a short adventure where you will be in tranquil wilderness of high hills facing stunning views of mountain range from Langtang-Ganesh-Jugal Himal as far towards Manaslu and Annapurna range within western direction.
 
Gosainkund Trekking begins with exciting overland journey from Kathmandu to reach cooler areas at Dhunche the headquarter and administrative town of Rasuwa district and Langtang Himal region, home to indigenous Tamang tribes the hill people of Himalaya.
 
Where walk leads to a steep climb within serene woodland of tall rhododendron-magnolia-oaks-pines and fir trees to reach at a small village at Singh Gompa also known as Chandanbari (Sandal-wood), from here heading much higher to cross a over Laurabinaya ridge with awesome panorama of peaks then reaching at sacred Gosainkund.
 
A famous pilgrimage sites where Hindu followers visits for ritual bathe and dip in the icy pond, where belief delivers one into paradise and drink of its holy water relinquishes the sins of a hundred lifetimes, the pond with myth and history.
 
Around this sacred pond of Gosainkund, where great festival held once a year during auspicious time of Janai Purnima (Full Moon) in the month of August, as per Hindu Lunar calendar, according to another popular belief a huge rock at the center of the pond remains hidden Shiva temple, at Gosainkund enjoy the peaceful surrounding within great holy spirits site.
 
Enjoying perfect wilderness and pleasant scenic moment head downhill towards Dhunche past Sing Gompa for interesting drive back to Kathmandu, after a remarkable experience and adventure on Gosainkund trekking.

The Gosainkund Trekking provides with standard Itinerary days where some days walks can be shorter or longer as per your physical fitness, some designated overnight stops can change, due to available rooms and other facilities and etc…….
 
We will follow the itinerary if its need to be changes in case of weather, landslides and difficulties on walks requiring more days where our leader and lead head guides decides holding full authority for Royal Nepal Group .

Best Seasons:

The best seasons for this wonderful adventure from mid-spring and autumn times. From April to May and September to the second week of December months. April and May lively season, days are clear for views and walks but can get colder by late afternoon till night and morning times. The next best season is September to the second week of December, days are bright with crystal clear blue sky. However, colder morning and nighttime can expect snow some times during the walk to Gosainkund Trekking.
 

Climate and Weather:

Climate & Weather, depending upon seasonal wise around mid-spring the weather is fine and clear with more bright sunny days. Can get colder in the late afternoon, night as well in the early morning before the sun reaches the lodge to stay overnights. The temperatures of minimum -05 degrees Celsius to a maximum of + 20 and above. 
 
High altitude gets bright sun with strong UV, trekkers need sun-screen and sun hats.  September to early November is bright and beautiful, although the sun reaches late due to the autumn season. However, the day is fine and clear, quite windy afternoon, cold in the night and morning time.
 
Minimum temperatures of -10 degrees to maximum + 20 degrees, the sunlight is shorter during autumn gets dark soon by 6 p.m.

Whilst all our hikes, trekking, tour programs with itineraries where accommodation are all set in respective Hotels / Lodge / Home Stay, Guest House and Resorts even camping in some remote area as per the set program itinerary. Some days could be longer or could be shorter depending upon the fitness of the clients, availability of vehicle on time, flight delay, cancellation, unfavorable bad weather and roads or trail condition. Royal Nepal Group requests clients on booking to acquire Travel and Medical Insurance is compulsory undertaking any tour and treks. It should include adequate protection for tour / treks duration to cover personal injury, death, medical expenses, and repatriation expenses in any means of transportation on emergency evacuation such as helicopter rescue, air ambulance and adequate cover for baggage.
 
In this situation your selected and chosen tour destination may differ from the program itineraries. In rare cases we might even have to reroute or cancel the trips as per the political, riot, bad weather, broken road or trail condition and porter's situation and condition. The company has the right to cancel the trips due to unavoidable condition and beyond our control including if the volume of travelers is less than expected as per the trips selected. In this case, please bear with us we will try our best to adjust the itinerary trips as best as possible for your convenience.
 

Altitude Sickness

Altitude Sickness can affect anyone. At high altitude, the decrease in atmospheric pressure makes breathing difficult due to less oxygen. Mainly, it happens above 3300m (10,000ft). Signs and symptoms are as follows:
 
Headache/Dizziness
Nausea/vomiting
tiredness/fatigue
Sleepy but can’t sleep
Loss of appetite
 
Prevention for this is to dress warmly as per weather conditions, drink plenty of water, eat well, and walk slowly. It is a good idea to climb higher than you sleep. Keep hydrated and make sure you avoid alcohol.

Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m) and transfer to hotel

On arrival Kathmandu received by our staff for transfer to your hotels in the heart of Kathmandu, within the city reach after checking in and getting refreshed join in at the lobby or meeting place for trek briefing with other related information regarding your stay in Nepal and of the trek.

Evening depart for group dinner in a nice and authentic Nepalese restaurants where you will be entertained with Nepalese folk music and dance programs.

Day 2

In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour and trek preparation

Today in Kathmandu for interesting sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley where you will be engrossed visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites as Kathmandu and adjoining cities steeped with ancient monuments of both Hindu and Buddhism religions.

Tour includes Old Durbar Square with ancient Royal palace and courtyard within historical monuments in the midst of the city and then visit old Swayambhunath Stupa of more than 2, 500 years old history, located on a hillock west of the city.

From here tour takes you to important Hindu temple at Pashupatinath dedicated to Lord Shiva, an interesting place to witness Hindu pilgrims on prayer and worship, after Pashupatinath short drive to interesting site of Bouddhanath.

Bouddhanath Stupa an important pilgrimage site for Buddhism followers with many monasteries; Bouddhanath area known as the Vatican of Buddhism and Little Tibet.

After a wonderful and interesting day tour back to hotel with time for trek preparations.

Day 3

Drive to Dhunche (1,950 m) about 06 to 07 hrs drive hrs.

An early morning departure from the hotel taking an overland drive to reach towards North around Langtang Himal, during six hours drive views of snow capped peaks, then arriving at Dhunche headquarter town of Rasuwa district and Langtang Himal area.

Day 4

Trek to Sing Gompa-Chandanbari (3,254 m) about 05 hrs walk

From this Tamang main town at Dhunche morning walk leads on gradual walk to a river, after crossing a small bridge climb on terraced farm fields and into cool shade of lovely coniferous forest filled with tall rhododendron-magnolia-oaks-pines and fir tree lines, heading past cattle herders shelters within grazing field.

Walk continues with final climb, then on pleasant trail to reach at Chandanbari or Sing Gompa (a place with sandal wood trees), at Chandanbari in a nice lodge, with afternoon free visit its small cheese factory and old monastery situated on top of the village.

Day 5

Trek to Gosainkund Lake (4,336 m) - 05 hrs.

After Sing Gompa / Chandanbari village, morning walk with views of Langtang and Ganesh-Himal includes Manaslu and Annapurna range, as our route leads higher up for an hour into rhododendron forest.

Walking past green forested areas where walk continues with climb on leaving trees for dwarf rhododendron, juniper bushes, walk unwinds uphill past few teahouses around small place of Laurabinaya, where short downhill reaches the first lake Saraswati and the Bhairabkund with short climb to our overnight stop within Gosainkund close to its calm pond.

Enjoy time around holy Gosainkund pond formed by glacier and natural spring, where belief is that a Hindu God Lord Shiva created the lake, where thousands of pilgrims visits in the month of August for prayer and dip in the holy icy pond to relinquish the sin of hundred lifetimes.

Day 6

Trek to Dhunche (1,950 m) about 06 hrs and transfer to lodge.

With exciting time at holy Gosainkund, morning walk leads past main pond downhill with short uphill then heading for long descend past Laurabinaya hill to reach at Sing Gompa, from here heading downhill into dense forest to reach at the bottom of a hill by the river then crossing a bridge, where nice walk lead with short ups to reach at Dhunche town for last overnight stop around Langtang Himal area.

Day 7

Drive back to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure.

Last and final morning within Rasuwa district and Langtang Himal region, where drive leads past Ramche and Kalikathan to reach warmer area at Trisuli Bazaar town, and then on winding downhill to reach back into main city at Kathmandu, and then transfer to your hotel after a most fascinating time on Gosainkund Trekking.

Day 8

Depart Kathmandu for international flight home-ward bound.
