Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek - 5 Days Itinerary with Cost

Our Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek takes 5 days of moderate trekking on rather mellow terrain. This trek is an option for those who don't have much time, yet wish to explore the beautiful landscape and culture of the Himalayas in Nepal. Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is perfect for students, couples, families with kids or anyone who does not have the energy or capability to do physically demanding treks. You don’t even have to wait for the perfect weather as this trek can be done anytime during the year and no previous trekking experience is required.

Ghorepani Poon Hill trek doesn’t take you to those high altitudes where you have to worry about altitude sickness and extremely cold weather. All you can expect during this trek is amazing views of snow-capped mountains, green lush forests, and villages with different ethnic groups with culture-rich lifestyles. The highlight of this trek is an early morning hike to view the beautiful golden sunrise over the mighty mountains like Annapurna South, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Hiunchuli, etc. from Poon Hill. You also get to explore beautiful villages like Ghandruk, Ghorepani, Tadapani, and Ulleri. These villages allow you to experience the hospitable culture and for you to enjoy simple lives away from modern devices and your worldly worries. After 4 days of sightseeing and fun activities in Kathmandu and Pokhara, this trek ends on the 9th day.

Itineraries

First Day

Day 1:Arrival at Kathmandu

• Accommodation: 3-Star Hotel
• Altitude: 1345 m
After you arrive at the airport in Kathmandu, you will see our representatives with your name on Sublime Trails signboard. You will then be taken to a 3-star hotel where you can rest for a while. Today, we will give you a short briefing. You can roam around the streets of Thamel, try new food in different restaurants and go to bars and spas.

Second Day

Day 2:Drive/Flight to Pokhara

• Accommodation: 3-Star Hotel
• Trek Hours: 6-7 hours
• Altitude: 820 m
• Private Vehicle
You will have a 6-7 hours bus ride to reach Pokhara. It is a city famous for its lakes. During the ride, you can enjoy beautiful landscapes with green forests. You will reach Pokhara and check into a hotel. You can now visit the lakes and temples. You can also explore the city. Pokhara also offers caves like Bat cave and Mahendra cave and a beautiful place known as Sarangkot from where you can get a spectacular view of the sunset.

Third Day

Day 3:Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedhunga

• Accommodation: Tea House
• Trek Hours: 2 hours + 4-5 hours
• Altitude: 1480 m
• Priviate Vehicle
Pokhara to Nayapul is a two-hour journey.After completing the ride to Nayapul, you will walk towards Tikhedhunga. You will start your trek and walk for about 20 minutes before reaching rocky stairs which you will descend. You will see farmed terraces and forests and mountain ranges along the way. You will reach Modi Khola and you will have crossed several suspension bridges. You will also get to see waterfalls.

Fourth Day

Day 4:Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani

• Accommodation: Tea House
• Trek Hours: 6-7 hours
• Altitude: 2675 m
During this trek, you will cross several villages. First, you will reach Ulleri after few hours of uphill climbing. Then, you cross Banthanti. These villages are inhabited by the Magar community. Moving towards, Ghorepani, you will get amazing panoramic views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna mountain ranges even from lower elevations. After almost 6 hours of trekking, you will reach Ghorepani and stay there enjoying the warm hospitality of people of Magar community.

Fifth Day

Day 5:Trek from Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3180m) and then to Tadapani

• Accommodation: Tea House
• Trek Hours: 4-5 hours
• Altitude: 2630 m
You will wake up early and head towards Poon Hill. It will be an uphill trek for about an hour. You can get spectacular views of the sunrise and mountains like Mt. Annapurna I (8091 m), Annapurna South (7219 m), Annapurna III (7855 m), Machhapuchhare (6993 m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Tukuche Peak (6920m), Nilgiri (6940m), Varaha Shikhar Annapurna IV (7525 m), Annapurna II (7937 m) and Lamjung Himal (6931 m). After you enjoy the scenic beauty from Poon Hill, you will descend 3-4 hours towards Tadapani.

Sixth Day

Day 6:Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk

• Accommodation: Tea House
• Trek Hours: 3-4 hours
• Altitude: 1940 m
Even when the altitude decreases as we trek down to Ghandruk, you will be able to get amazing views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Machhapuchhre. The villages you pass along the way and Ghandruk is a Gurung village and you can explore their culture and traditions. This place is also famous for birdwatching.

Seventh Day

Day 7:Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara

• Accommodation: Tea House
• Trek Hours: 5-6 hours
• Altitude: 820 m
• Private Vehicle
You will return to Pokhara today. You will start your trek which takes about 5 hours. You will cross villages like Syauli Bazar and Birethanti to reach Nayapul. Then, you will have a bus ride to Pokhara which takes about 3 hours. After reaching Pokhara, you can spend your evening in tourist hubs which features several activities like live music and places like spas and bar. You can also go shopping for souvenirs.

Eighth Day

Day 8:Drive/Flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu

• Accommodation: 3-star hotel
• Trek Hours: 6-7 hours
• Altitude: 1345 m
• Private Vehicle
Today you will leave Pokhara and take a bus ride which takes about 6 hours to reach Kathmandu. You can also choose to take a flight. Reaching Kathmandu, you can rest in a 3-star hotel for a while after which you can go out for some fun activities. You can stroll around the streets of Thamel and buy fancy handicrafts and other souvenirs, go to spas and bars. In the evening, you will enjoy a farewell dinner planned by Sublime Trails for you where you can enjoy local food and cultural dances performed by local dancers.

Ninth Day

Day 9:Departure

Your trip concludes today as we drop you to the airport for your departure. If you are planning to stay a few more days in Nepal, we can plan some fun activities for you or take you to trek in another region as you want. We bid you a warm farewell.

Yes, you can extend your trek to Annapurna Base Camp. However, it might get harder to extend the schedule in the peak seasons as our team members might be in a tight schedule. But you can do it nevertheless and the price will be changed accordingly.

No. There is little to no risk of altitude sickness during Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek. 3000 m is the safe mark for altitude sickness and you will be crossing it only when you hike to Poon Hill. As you will not spend the night at that altitude, it will not be much of a problem. But you can always take precautions.
