Pikey Peak Trek 5 Days

Your Pikey Peak adventure begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Dhap Bazaar, located at an altitude of 2,850 meters. The journey takes approximately 6-7 hours, offering breathtaking views of the rolling hills, terraced farmlands, and distant mountain ranges. Along the way, you’ll pass through traditional villages, where you’ll catch glimpses of rural Nepali life. Upon reaching Dhap Bazaar, you'll settle into a local tea house. Here, you’ll have time to rest and acclimatize to the altitude while enjoying the hospitality of the local Sherpa community.

On the second day, the trekking adventure begins. You’ll leave Dhap Bazaar and start trekking towards Jhapre, which is located at an elevation of 2,815 meters. The trail takes you through lush forests, small hamlets, and rolling hills. As you ascend, you will be greeted by panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, including distant Himalayan peaks. Jhapre is a quiet village with a traditional feel, known for its Tibetan Buddhist influence, small monasteries, and prayer flags fluttering in the wind. The day’s trek takes around 5 to 6 hours, offering a great introduction to the region's serene beauty.

This day involves trekking from Jhapre to the Pikey Peak Base Camp at 3,640 meters. The route gradually ascends, taking you through dense rhododendron forests, open fields, and ridges with incredible mountain views. Along the way, you might pass through yak pastures and meet local herders. The higher you climb, the more breathtaking the scenery becomes, with the snow-capped peaks of Everest and the surrounding mountains becoming more prominent. Reaching Pikey Peak Base Camp is a significant milestone, as it is the staging point for the next day’s summit push. You’ll spend the night here, enjoying the tranquility and preparing for the next morning’s early hike to Pikey Peak.

The highlight of the trek, Day 4, starts early with a sunrise hike to the summit of Pikey Peak (4,065 meters). The trek to the top takes about 1-2 hours, and once you reach the summit, you’ll be rewarded with one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayas. On a clear day, you can see Mount Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, Kanchenjunga, and many other peaks in the distance. The sunrise from the top of Pikey Peak is truly a magical experience, with the first rays of the sun lighting up the mountains. After soaking in the views, you’ll descend back to Pikey Base Camp for a short rest before continuing your trek back to Jhapre. This part of the journey takes about 6 to 7 hours in total, as you retrace your steps down the trail.

On the final day, you’ll begin by trekking from Jhapre back to Dhap Bazaar, which takes around 3-4 hours. Once you reach Dhap, you’ll have a short break before boarding the jeep for the drive back to Kathmandu. The drive, which lasts around 6 to 7 hours, takes you through beautiful landscapes and mountain scenery, with plenty of opportunities to reflect on the trekking experience. Upon arriving in Kathmandu, you’ll have time to relax and enjoy the comforts of the city, completing your memorable Pikey Peak Trek.
