Everest Base Camp Trekking 12 Days

The adventure begins with a thrilling morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, one of the world's most exciting airstrips. After landing at Lukla, we start our trek along a well-marked trail that descends to Phakding. The walk is relatively easy, passing through small villages, lush green valleys, and forests of rhododendron and pine, providing a great warm-up for the days ahead.

Leaving Phakding, we follow the Dudh Koshi River and cross several suspension bridges, including the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge. The trail gradually climbs through pine forests, passing small settlements like Monjo, where we enter Sagarmatha National Park. After a steep ascent, we reach Namche Bazaar, a bustling Sherpa town that serves as the gateway to Everest and offers spectacular views of Everest and Ama Dablam.

To adjust to the increasing altitude, we spend an extra day in Namche Bazaar for acclimatization. A hike to the Everest View Hotel is a popular option, offering stunning views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. You can also explore the Sherpa Culture Museum, visit local markets, or simply relax and enjoy the ambiance of this mountain town.

The trek continues along a scenic trail with panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. After a steep climb through forests of rhododendron and juniper, we arrive at the spiritual hub of Tengboche, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery. Here, trekkers can witness the evening prayers and enjoy a peaceful environment surrounded by breathtaking mountain vistas.

We descend through lush forests to Deboche and cross the Imja Khola. The trail then ascends gradually, passing through charming villages like Pangboche, offering closer views of Ama Dablam. Continuing further, we reach Dingboche, a picturesque village known for its stone-walled fields and stunning views of Lhotse, Island Peak, and other peaks.

Today is another crucial acclimatization day. You can hike to Nagarjun Hill or Chukhung Valley to gain altitude, which offers fantastic views of Makalu, Lhotse, and other Himalayan giants. The rest of the day can be spent exploring Dingboche or resting in preparation for higher altitudes.

The trail gradually ascends the Khumbu Valley, passing through alpine terrain with fewer trees and more glacial landscapes. We reach Thukla, where a steep climb brings us to a ridge adorned with memorials for climbers who lost their lives on Everest. From here, a relatively gentle trail leads to Lobuche, nestled beneath the mighty Lobuche Peak.

An early start takes us through the rocky moraine path alongside the Khumbu Glacier. After a challenging trek, we reach Gorakshep, the last stop with teahouses. After a brief rest, we continue to Everest Base Camp. Standing at the base of the world's highest peak, surrounded by towering ice pinnacles and the infamous Khumbu Icefall, is a moment of triumph. After spending time here, we return to Gorakshep for the night.

Before dawn, we set off for Kala Patthar to catch the sunrise over Everest. The climb is steep, but the panoramic views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and other peaks make it worth the effort. After soaking in the breathtaking scenery, we descend back to Gorakshep and continue down to the lower altitude village of Pheriche.

The trek continues downhill, retracing our steps along the Imja Khola and through Tengboche. The descent allows you to breathe more comfortably and enjoy the lush landscapes once again. Finally, we arrive back at Namche Bazaar, where you can relax and enjoy the amenities of this vibrant mountain hub.

Today is the final day of trekking, as we descend steeply through forests and cross several suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River. We pass through Phakding and continue to Lukla. It’s time to celebrate the completion of this incredible journey with your trekking team.

We take a morning flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu, bidding farewell to the Khumbu region and the majestic Himalayas. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you can relax or explore the city, reflecting on the adventure you just completed.
